WESTERN Electronics Pte Ltd was founded by Mr. S. T. Tan and incorporated on 6^th December 1979 in Singapore. The company started out with Carbon Film leaded resistors manufacturing in the present site, 12 Kian Teck Drive, Singapore and expanded into the production of Metal Film, Metal Oxide and miniature size resistors in 1986.

Embarking on globalization, WESTERN set up its second factory in Prai, Penang in 1989 and its third resistor plant in Indonesia in 1996. Over the years, WESTERN Electronics has increased production facilities and capabilities to meet the increasing demand for both chip resistors and leaded resistors.

In year 2009, ASJ Holdings Ltd acquired the brand name "WESTERN" and its assets, and all WESTERN Resistors production has relocated to ASJ Components (M) Sdn Bhd.
